Manufacturing Engineer

Looking for a technically solid Manufacturing Engineer with analytical instrumentation/medical device experience who can handle a wide variety of tasks related to the manufacture of scientific instrumentation.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for standards and methods; manufacturing/assembly problem solving; generating Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) to optimize the procedures.
  • Review assembly/technical problems encountered during the manufacturing process and determine best solution.  Consult with Engineering and/or other departments as required and  generate ECO's to document the changes.
  • Review cell manufacturing operations for non-conformance and test time and to determine cause(s) of problems and corrective actions.
  • Interface with off-site vendors to resolve quality issues, technical problems and reduce cost.
  • Assist Purchasing in approving second source suppliers and resolve obsolescence issues.
  • Assist QA and purchasing in performing vendor audits to ensure the manufacturing requirements are satisfied.
  • Issue justifications for new materials and capital equipment for new product introductions and improving the existing products.
  • Design, manufacture and/or purchase test and assembly fixture to improve manufacturing operations.
  • Work with Engineering and R&D on the manufacturing requirements for the new products.
  • Work with manufacturing and the packaging suppliers on the packaging design.
  • Work with manufacturing managers to transfer new products to production and perform the required training for new operations. 
  • Set labor standards.  Usually work from standard data, but when required, time study to develop and augment data, including determination of efficiency of operation allowances and safety.  Review all standards annually, adjusting to reflect changes and/or improvements.  Observe problem areas to determine cause of difficulties, and take necessary action.
  • Review floor layout for optimum work flow, changing as needed.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports.


Qualifications:

  • BS or MSME
  • Five plus years of experience with electromechanical assemblies, machined and sheet metal components.
  • Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing and FDA regulated environment is a plus.
  • Must have previous experience in creating manufacturing documentation package (structuring Bill Of Materials, manufacturing procedures/assembly drawings)
  • Knowledge of ACAD or SolidWorks
