About Magellan Biosciences, Inc.

Company description

An emerging leader in the clinical-diagnostics and biomedical-research markets, Magellan Biosciences, Inc. was established in October 2004. Today, Magellan develops and commercializes worldwide a broad range of products that improve clinical outcomes, including point-of-care assays and analyzers, automated clinical-assay workstations, diagnostic systems and assays, and related consumables and services. Within the biomedical-research market, we focus on our customer's analytical challenges by offering a suite of high-performance detection products that enable customers to perform the rigorous scientific inquiries that lead to breakthrough discoveries across a range of critical applications.

Magellan serves customers through its wholly owned subsidiaries: ESA Biosciences, Dynex Technologies, and TREK Diagnostic Systems. Headquartered about 30 miles northwest of Boston in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Magellan employs a talented, multidisciplinary staff of more than 300 worldwide who work cross-functionally to provide quick response to customers and to solve complex product-development and technical-support problems.

Growth strategy

Our goal is to deliver strong and consistent revenue growth by providing innovative products and services to an expanded customer base – internal growth – and through acquisitions. We believe we can deliver through a multi-pronged growth strategy comprising four elements:

But a company's success should not be measured by revenue growth alone. Our goal is to deliver profitable growth, and continually enhance the bottom line. We will invest substantial resources in R&D, in people, and in necessary infrastructure – all that's required to build a world-class company – but we plan to do it smart! How? By our unwavering commitment to quality and to improving how we do things each and every day. By sharing company-wide the strengths, skills, and resources that abound in each of our companies. And by exploiting the opportunities that come from scale; a growing $80 million company has prospects that would be beyond the reach of a smaller enterprise.
